Scaredyville

Here's some characters from Scardeyville, which is a concept I'm working on in my spare time. Frankie from the previous post is also a character, and I've got a bunch more that I'm working through. These are pretty much first pass, very small drawings, but I wanted to just throw what I'm doing and where I'm going with this stuff up as I go. I'm going to be doing a series of paintings based on these characters and concepts, and I'd like to put together a book at some point, but for now, here's four of my little guys.

Thanks, Kawabamga. And Franco, I hear you, but don't worry, I'm drawing in my usual style everyday. Ultimatum issue 4 just hit the stands two days ago, and there's plenty more work coming. For the most part this blog is about experimenting for me, and going in different directions. It's pretty tough to have the freedom to do that when you have an established audience that expects a certain thing. I just don't really feel like there's much of a need for me to blog about my normal work because it reaches a pretty big audience as it is. Besides, I can't post up comic work until it's released, and at that point it's not fresh. I've got a link to my website at the top of the page, and all the work there is what you would expect from me.

Great Blog. I recognized your name from the Gallery Subtext artist list for the Comicon Superhero show, but wasn't sure if it was the Finch I recognized from comics and conceptart. Awesome stuff, I know how hard it is to step out of the norm and do something experimental so kudos to you and great job with the blog thus far. Hope you get to attend the show in person and if you do, I look forward to meeting you.

Cheers,
Patrick
